SECOND STOP
Deep Dive
This week I wanted to share the different ways I always have ideas to write my weekly newsletter.
Let’s start.
1/ Survey’s: I wish I had this setup on day 1 of the newsie. But having a survey is a great simple way to find ideas for your newsletter.
How?
Well you can ask a simple question about the industry you are writing about to your new subscribers. The question can be something simple as ‘What are you currently struggling with in [industry]?’
You will be surprised by the content you will have to write about.
2/ AnswerthePublic: A great ‘free’ tool to use to see what people are searching about the topic you write about on Google.
It will show you the top searches so you can be the one to write about it. It’s what I used at the start and from time to time will use it again.
3/ X: I follow a lot of interesting people in the newsletter space and other niches. And sometimes I get an idea from a tweet I saw, and want to give my own view point.
Tools like X are great for this, don’t just doom scroll on these platforms.
4/ Email Replies: Probably one of my favorite ways to get ideas, is when a reader will email me back a problem they are having.
I have another idea that I can write about.
5/ Gummy Search: Reddit is an under used platform for content research, a lot of people go on there to write about problems they are facing in whatever space.
Gummy Search makes it very easy to find subreddits where people are looking for solutions. Which you can write about, and give them an answer and link to your newsletter at the end.
THIRD STOP
Newsletter Metrics
I want to be transparent and also I think it will be cool to see the weekly growth of a newsletter
Open Rate: 61.7%
Click-Rate: 15%
Subscribers: 379
FOURTH STOP
The Tweet
Build an email list.
Many claim it's the best business asset they have.
Build it. Give value to the people inside of it. Nurture it. Love it. Profit from it.
