Remember October 4th, 2021 and what happened on that day. No?

Let me draw your memory, it was when Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger all went down for the day. You probably were scrambling trying to connect with your followers but most importantly you probably lost a lot of $$$.

This is why today’s newsletter is about why building your email list is so important for you and your business.

But the question I see a lot is why should you even start building an email list when you have thousands or millions of followers on social media. Alright let me paint a picture, imagine the social platform goes down, or they remove your followers, or the algorithm just does not want to promote your content anymore.

With an email list, you own that list you own those subscribers, no platform can take that away from you. You have a way to communicate with your subscribers and you have a way to still sell your product still. And the best part is you have this data, in a way of emails.

How do you start building an email list?

• Share your newsletter with your family and friends

• Add your newsletter subscribe link to your social media bios

• Promote your email newsletter on social media *not in a spammy way

• Create a Lead Magnet (eBook, Notion Template, Guide, Cheatsheet, Checklist) and send it to them after they subscribe to your email newsletter

• Cross-promotion with other newsletters in your industry

There are so many great ways to build an email list now, focus on what works for you. You won’t regret building that email list when you have products to sell.
